Low Vision Clinic

LOW VISION CLINIC: A Service of Society for the Blind

WHAT WE DO: We pick up where your eye doctor leaves off. If your doctor tells you that you have low vision and there's nothing more he or she can do, we can help.

The Low Vision Clinic has the most complete inventory of optical devices in California. From simple hand held magnifiers to the latest electronic aids. They're all available for you to try in our clinic.

GETTING STARTED: Call us! We will schedule a Low Vision Evaluation with our expert doctors. Our thorough evaluations take approximately 1½ hours.

LOW VISION EVALUATION: When you arrive, you will receive a comprehensive evaluation with one of our Low Vision Specialists. After you and the Doctor determine what works best for you, the option of taking the low vision devices home on loan for evaluation is available.

THE LATEST TECHNOLOGY: The Low Vision Clinic provides a wide range of the high-tech equipment. Our latest products include portable electronic magnifiers, Head-mounted magnifying devices and Closed Circuit Television magnification (Reading machines).

MAGNIFIERS: The Low Vision Clinic has a large inventory of magnifiers with different strengths, sizes and uses. Because magnifiers vary widely in power, size, cost and use, please make an appointment to determine which magnifier will help you use your vision most effectively.

OUR STAFF: Our Doctors of Optometry have advanced training in low vision. An exceptional staff further enhances their work, and helps coordinate their efforts to provide a complete, individualized solution to help you use your vision to the best advantage. Our staff works closely with you, your eye doctor, and family to ensure that you have both the skills and devices needed to maximize your visual potential.

OUTREACH & RESOURCES: The Doctors and staff are available to speak to your group or organization. We are also committed to provide any information or resources needed for your success.
