Society for the Blind is proud to host the Central Valley/Sacramento area’s first-ever regional Braille Challenge Preliminary Contest Competition.
Youth in grades 1 through 12 are invited to compete and exhibit their Braille skills by age group.
| Level | Grades | Contest Categories |
| Apprentice | 1 & 2 | Spelling, comprehension and proofreading |
| Freshman | 3 & 4 | Spelling, comprehension and proofreading |
| Sophomore | 5 & 6 | Comprehension, proofreading, spelling, speed, accuracy. |
| Jr. Varsity | 7, 8, 9 | Comprehension, proofreading, speed ,accuracy, charts, graphs |
| Varsity | 10, 11, 12 | Comprehension, proofreading, speed ,accuracy, charts, graphs |
The first place winner in each category will be invited to compete in the National Braille Challenge in Los Angeles on June 24, 2006.
