Career Development Program

The Career Development Program (CDP) was established in 2002 to meet the career development needs of the blind and visually impaired in the greater Sacramento community. The program specializes in all aspects of career development for job seekers, including vocational assessment and exploration in order to determine a career goal, interviewing techniques, resume writing, job search methods, teambuilding, time management, professional protocol, and making employer contacts.

Currently, we are offering one component of our Career Development Program: the Vocational Exploration Program (VEP). VEP works with job seekers new to the job market, as well as those with years of successful experience, who are now transitioning to work as a visually impaired or blind employee. In this program, we assess the individual’s skills, abilities and interests and introduce them to research techniques to help determine their career goals. At the end of this process, each client leaves with occupational goals and a training plan in hand.
