A place for Mentoring, Tutoring, Career and College Guidance

Society for the Blind’s new CareersPLUS Youth program is pleased to be offering after-school space to meet with peers, network with working blind adults and seek guidance from trained staff on preparing for college and researching careers. This program is available to high school and college-age students who are blind or have low vision.

Additionally, students participating in this program can also receive:

  • Assistance in planning for summer internships and part time employment
  • Receive college prep guidance
  • Receive career guidance
  • Learn how to be tech savvy with our technology lab
  • Get connected with a mentor
  • Receive guidance with homework
  • Meet with Spanish-speaking staff for above-mentioned services

To participate and schedule with the CareersPLUS Youth After School Program, please email CareersPLUS@societyfortheblind.org or call 916.889.7513. Scheduling will ensure a CareersPLUS staff member will be available for you. Same-day appointments can be made with at least 2 hours advance notice.

Consultation for parents, family members and student’s support network is available by appointment. Society for the Blind is conveniently located in midtown Sacramento, just two blocks away from the 13th Street Regional Transit light rail station as well as off of many RT bus lines.

For students and persons seeking consultation who are out of the immediate area, video conferencing and telephone appointments can be arranged with advanced notice.
