The Briggs Award
The Briggs Award honors the past, present and future of vision care in the Sacramento region. The award is named in honor of Sacramento’s first ophthalmologist, Dr. William Ellery Briggs. He provided some of the most advanced eye care of his day to railroad workers who suffered eye injuries while building the transcontinental railroad.
