When someone is experiencing vision loss, they are not the only person going through the emotional and mental struggle of the process. Society for the Blind acknowledges this and wants to help. We are offering a support group for the support networks of our clients and other visually impaired members of the greater Sacramento area.

This support group will provide an opportunity for friends and family of those who are visually impaired to have many questions answered. Come talk to professionals in the Blindness Rehabilitation field. Ask questions about daily living, orientation & mobility – or cane travel – accessible technology, Braille, and feel free to ask any other questions. This is truly an opportunity to discuss techniques for parenting, cooking, administering medications, traveling, and using various types of computers and other technology with other blind individuals.

Whether it’s a medical condition or a traumatic accident, vision loss is a journey. The individuals going through the vision loss are not alone. We want to help those friends and family members, as well as the person experiencing the loss of sight. Come to the Society for the Blind’s Quarterly Family and Friends Support Group to get your questions answered.

Doors open at 8:30am for registration. Discussion will begin at 9:00am.

Light refreshments will be provided in the morning.

To RSVP for this support group, please email Brandie Kubel at [email protected] or call (916) 889-7521.
