Meet at SFB at 9:30 am and take the light rail over to the Sac Natural Food Co-Op. Vans will bring you back to SFB for your transportation before 3:00 pm. SIP will cover the cost of your light rail ticket.
Come explore and learn orientation and mobility techniques for sidewalk travel, street crossing techniques, and experience riding the new light rail train. Come and explore the newly re-designed 13th St. light rail station in a safe and supportive environment. Please bring your long white straight cane.
We will enjoy lunch together at the Food Co-Op and learn how to use a “shopper assistant” at the grocery store. Time will be given to practice shopping. Come and learn useful techniques such as: navigating in a line, locating the cash register, and going through a buffet line. Please bring cash/card to pay for your own lunch.
Limited to 10 participants. Please choose one of the dates offered. Be prepared to walk 5 blocks unassisted.
