Looking back as we move forward

I am delighted to share our 2022 Annual Report with you. It was a very busy year as we welcomed students back to in-person classes and workshops, celebrated the 20th anniversary of our Senior IMPACT Project and opened our Braille Production and Training Program.

Thanks to your ongoing support, we reached more than 4,000 new clients last year. Thousands of hours of volunteer work were provided by 150 volunteers assisting our Access News, Bingo and senior programs, as well as various events.

As we reflect on the past year, we are filled with hope and excitement for what lies ahead. In 2024, Society for the Blind will celebrate its 70th anniversary of providing comprehensive blindness skills and low vision eye care in northern California and Nevada. We know there is much more to be done to increase awareness of our services. We want to ensure children with vision loss have access to resources and assistive technology they need to succeed academically. Likewise for our working age adults, we want them to be able to pursue their chosen career paths. For seniors living with vision loss, we want them to age actively and remain independent.

We are truly grateful for your support and commitment that has allowed people living with low vision and blindness to discover, develop and achieve their full potential for nearly 70 years. I hope you enjoy our 2022 Annual Report.
