A BIG Thank You to Our Donors!

I want to thank you, our donors and friends, for your incredible support on Big Day of Giving on May 7th. We more than doubled our goal of $15,000! Thanks to your generosity, more than $35,000 was raised that will enable hundreds of children, adults and seniors living with vision loss to receive services from Society for the Blind over the next several months.

A special thank you goes out to the Nancy and Hank Fisher Family Fund for the surprise matching gift of $15,000. This gift is a beautiful example of the depth of generosity in the Sacramento community.

Many of us wondered how this year’s event would turn out given we were in the midst of the Covid-19 shutdown. Well this year’s Big Day of Giving raised nearly $12M for area nonprofits – a record amount!

In the coming weeks, Society for the Blind will be preparing to partially reopen our center for services. First and foremost, the safety of our staff and clients is paramount. As much as we want to be together, protecting one another is key. For now we will continue with our remote classes, after-school academy and support groups. By late May or early June, our hope is to begin seeing patients in our Low Vision Clinic on a limited basis. Stay tuned for updates!

One thing is certain, we continue our unwavering commitment to ensuring people living with low vision and blindness can discover, develop and achieve their full potential. We will continue to provide online and remote services and be as innovative as possible to keep our clients connected to Society for the Blind and to the communities in which they live.

Your generosity makes all of this possible at Society for the Blind. We are grateful to you, and we hope you and your loved ones remain safe and healthy.
