Giving Thanks for 70 Years and So Much More!
As we near the end of our 70th year of service, I am so grateful to those who founded Society for the Blind in 1954 and everyone who has worked to build our organization over these seven decades. I am deeply grateful to the Delta Gammas and local Lions Clubs for their support of Society for the Blind for the past 70 years – and their continued support for the next 70!
We know that each of you, in offering your time, talent and resources to Society for the Blind, is an important part of our success. Together we are making it possible for people with low vision or blindness to achieve their goals.
One of the most important discoveries for new clients is learning that they are not alone. Vision loss can be isolating, but when someone comes to Society, they find they are part of a community that will support and encourage them on their journey of living with vision loss.
To this end, I am deeply grateful for our accomplished and dedicated staff who are making a difference in so many lives each and every day. By sharing their own lived experience with vision loss and providing professional training in non-visual skills, they are helping to create new-found hopes and dreams for our clients and patients.
As we enter the next decade of service, we are launching our Vision Forward Initiative. Over the next three years we plan to raise $1M to create a resource and learning center on our second floor, increase our capacity to meet the growing demand for services, and build our endowment so we are ready to respond to new opportunities or challenges that may arise.
In this season of thanksgiving and gratitude, I want to thank you for your steadfast support of Society for the Blind and for making it possible for each person who walks through our doors to discover, develop and achieve their full potential.
