BIG Thanks for Big Day of Giving!

YOU did it! Thanks to our generous friends, Society for the Blind had a very successful Big Day of Giving 2019. We raised $19,000 for our Music Support Program – $4,000 over our goal. Thank you!

Music truly does transform lives, and it’s a great way for our students to make new friends while honing their musical talents. This program was started by one of our instructors, Randy Owen, who has a love of music and music production. He noticed that some of his students really engaged when he would talk about music during class. He invited them to play music during his lunch break and from there it took off. Today the group meets twice a week and holds monthly jam sessions on weekends at Society for the Blind.

Later this spring, we will begin construction to complete the build-out of our first floor in the final phase of our Vision 2020 campaign. The funds raised on Big Day of Giving will help us build our new Music Room and purchase instruments and a sound system. The first-floor space will create a new multi-purpose training center for Society for the Blind, and the Music Support Program will have a permanent home to play music, store instruments and perform.
